6/8

These 6/8 drum beats lean toward rock and blues, but there's funk, brushes and more in here too. Strum chords, work out a riff, or just jam. Every one is a royalty free drum track, played by a real drummer.

6/8 or 3/4? Both fit six eighth notes in a bar, which is why they get mixed up. The difference is what you feel. Think of that as the pulse. 6/8 has two pulses, each lasting three eighth notes, or a dotted quarter note: [1 2 3] [4 5 6], with the weight on 1 and 4. 3/4 has three, each a full quarter note: 1 2 3. Tap your foot. Two taps a bar with a sway is 6/8, three is 3/4. Syncopation can blur the line, and some of these beats bend the rules on purpose. Trust your foot.

For jamming, look for the 20-minute versions on YouTube. No restarting the track every few minutes.

For recording, use the downloads. Video timing can wander slightly off tempo, which throws off the grid in your recording software. The drum loops here are high quality and lock to the tempo.
