3/4

There's a little of everything in these 3/4 drum beats: rock, funk, jazz and more. Jam along on YouTube, or download a drum track for practice or recording.

3/4 or 6/8? Both fit six eighth notes in a bar, which is why they get mixed up. The difference is what you feel. Think of that as the pulse. 3/4 has three pulses, each a full quarter note: 1 2 3. 6/8 has two, each lasting three eighth notes, or a dotted quarter note: [1 2 3] [4 5 6], with the weight on 1 and 4. Tap your foot. Three taps a bar is 3/4, two with a sway is 6/8. Syncopation can blur the line, and some of these beats bend the rules on purpose. Trust your foot.

Jamming? Many of these beats have 20-minute versions on YouTube, so you can keep playing without the track ending on you.

Recording? Get the drum loops here instead. Timing on YouTube can drift slightly from the exact tempo, so a song built on a video may not line up with the grid in your recording software. The downloads are high quality and made for recording.
